Send the desk a topic, or tell us we got something wrong
We read everything that comes in and reply to most of it within two working days. Before you write, one thing worth knowing: we cannot give personal advice, review your contract or comment on a named development. Those limits are not a formality — they are the reason this desk is worth reading.

Before you write
Three things we get asked that we cannot answer
- “Is this apartment a good buy?” That is personal advice and it depends on your finances, which we do not know and do not want to know. A buyers' advocate or a licensed adviser can help; we cannot.
- “Can you look over my contract?” No. Contract review is legal work. Our checklist is designed to give you better questions to take to a conveyancer, not to replace one.
- “What do you think of [named development]?” We do not comment on named projects. The explainers describe how these buildings and contracts work in general, which is the part that transfers.

Where to go for the things we do not do
- Contract and title questions — a licensed conveyancer or a property lawyer in the state where the property sits.
- Consumer complaints and disputes — the consumer affairs or fair trading body in your state, and the relevant civil tribunal.
- Building and defect disputes — your state building regulator, and a registered building inspector or consulting engineer for the technical work.
- Credit and finance — your lender, or a credit representative licensed under the national credit framework.
